AboutGeoff Wickens Expertise I have a fairly vast knowledge of the history of The City of Vancouver, BC. All my knowledge has been learned through on-hands experience. I am apt to answer most any question in regards to the history of the city, the construction of its bridges and the history behind some of its buildings.
Experience I drove cab for 5 years and in that time gave numerous city tours with full historical backgrounds. I have a thirst for history and an appetite for knowledge.
Question I plan to relocate to Vancouver, and would like to know how cold the winters are. Is there a lot of snow? How long does it stay cold, etc.?c
Answer Ah ... another person coming to PARADISE .... and I say that with all seriousness.
Vancouver is surrounded by water on three sides and overlooked by the Coast Range - mountains that rise abruptly to more than 1,500 m. It's climate is one of the mildest in Canada. Temperatures average 3°C in January and 18°C in July. Vancouver's average annual precipitation is 1,219 mm. Most rainfall occurs in winter.
Here are the average HIGH temperatures broken down by month (degrees Celcius):
January 5
February 7
March 10
April 14
May 18
June 21
July 23
August 23
September 18
October 14
November 9
December 6
As for snowfall .... we don't get any. OK ... we do get an average of one snowfall a year and that usually comes in January. This amounts to MAYBE --- MAYBE 6cm. Not bad while the rest of Canada digs out from 2-3 snowstorms PER MONTH. Saskatchewan can get 6 feet (yes, that's FEET) in thier snowdrifts quite easily. It is not uncommon for Hwy 1 anywhere east of Kamloops to bu impassable (road is shut down).
I hope this helps you.
Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like ... I will always be here.
