My father has had a chronic wound on his left foot by the ankle for years. He has had skin grafts done several times, but each time the wound will only heal up to a certain point, and the skin start to break down again. The doctor who performed the skin graft procedure said that his problem may have to do with venous insufficiency. I think this may be possible as he has a problem with varicose veins. What kinds of specialists should I be seeking to evaluate his foot? I would welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
Thank you.
Answer he needs to see a vascular specialist either surgeon or normal but cardiovascular
if the circulation is not treated , does not matter how many graft you will do , will never take [tissue viability] so 1/ treat the vascular problem, 2/ avoid any infection 3/ try to keep dry
and he has ulcerationof the skin meaning lost of tissue more than a wound
