Question Hi Steven, my name is will, i am very interested in guitaring and play a lot myself, i notice that stevie ray vaughen plays a fender stratocaster and i was wondering if u could answer a question for me.
What makes, Gibson Les Paul's and Fender Stratocasters the most popular guitars played around the world, and what makes them stand out above the rest. Why does Stevie ray vaughen play strats, and what amp does he use to compliment his guitar?
Answer The Fender Strat had several revolutionary features when it was introduced in 1954, like its double-cutaway body and triple single-coil pickups. Moreover, it was fairly cheap when compared with the arch-top guitars that were popular at the time.
The Gibson Les Paul was popular mainly due to the sound produced by its double-coil ("humbucker") pickups and it too was less expensive than some other guitars.
I guess Stevie played Strats because they gave him the sound he liked. If you want to know more about his amps, check out my SRV page at http://comp.uark.edu/~scherry
