Question Steven,
I was just wondering what your impressions were of the model? I hear that the first edition models 91-92' are much better because of the wood used then. Seems that alot of people do not like new wood. I would appreciate your help. I would like to purchase one but, not if it is not a good buy.
Thanks,
Kelly
Answer IIRC, the first-year run of the SRV Sig Strat had a particular type of rosewood on the fingerboard (I can't remember the type), and subsequent runs have Pao Ferro wood in the fretboard. I have not heard any negative comments about either type.
The later models are somewhat heavier than the earlier ones - I've played a '93 and a '99 SRV Sig Strat and there was definitely a difference.
IMO, the SRV Strats are great guitars (the Texas Specials pump out a nice raw sound and both models I handled felt rock-solid), but your hands better be pretty big if you want to play one; the neck is thicker and wider than usual and gave me some trouble when I played the SRV Strat.
