Subject: E476 Polyglycerol Polyricinoleate is it suitable for vegetarians?

Question
The Vegan Society claims that it may be animal-derived, but no evidence has been presented that any commercially available this products are made using animal-derived substances. E476 Polyglycerol Polyricinoleate is it suitable for vegetarians?

Answer
Dear Hanizah,
Mars corporation makes lots of it's candy products with Polyglycerol Polyricinoleate and tells us it's not suitable for vegetarians because it is of animal origin.  So if you do not eat anything with animal in it, then I would suggest that you find substitutions of the product that you want to eat or use.  What is it that you were using?  Maybe I can find something else for you.

Many thanks,
Chef Paulette
