Question I would like to know the benefits of eating lentils, and specifically whether lentils contain any protein.
Answer Hi Rosalie,
Lentils are an extremely nutritious food. They are high in protein (about 18 g per cup), as well as being high in magnesium, iron, and zinc. They are also very low in fat and high in fibre. All this while being extremely inexpensive as well! Including lentils and other plant based protein sources in your diet on a regular basis (as a substitute for meat) can help increase bowel regularity, as well as reduce your risk of heart disease, obesity and cancer.
