Question
hello, i am 15 and want to become a vegetarian..i saw a video of a factory-farming thing and i was just disgusted..i dont ever want to eat meat again..but i have a question..what kind of eggs do i eat if i dont want to eat eggs that are like from a factory farm..do you know? because ALOT of things have eggs in them..you know? well thats my only question really..

Answer
Hi Matt,

Your best bet for non-factory-farmed eggs is to look for a brand of organic, vegetarian-fed (preferably flax-fed) eggs (Vita Eggs is one brand I'm familiar with). You might even be able to find a source at a small local farm if you start asking around.

I would also encourage you to educate yourself properly about all aspects of vegetarian nutrition to ensure you maintain a healthy diet as you transition to vegetarianism. _Becoming Vegetarian_ by Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis is an excellent resource. _The Teen's Vegetarian Cookbook_ by Judy Krizmanic would also be very useful for you. Both of these should be available at your local library. Also, check out the Vegetarian Resource Group at vrg.org for more great information.

Hope that helps!

Karen
