About Jordan
Expertise My name is Jordan and I am an Epidemiology student at the University of Oklahoma. On top of that I am finishing my bachelors in M.D.S. public health and my minor is H.E.S. (health and exercise science). I have had many classes entirely devoted to sexually transmitted diseases, I am starting my independent study focusing on S.T.D distribution based on demographics, and have had a lot of hands on experience at the clinic that I am currently employed. I believe that sexually transmitted disease are a part of life, like any other non-sexually transmitted disease and can be controlled with knowledge. I would love to share this knowledge with anyone that is seeking it and encourage anyone that needs it to just ask, because I would love to help.

Subject: herpes
Question can can herpes 1 on a man's lips infect a woman's vagina?
Answer Yes, it can. It is just harder for a woman to contract HSV-1 vaginally than HSV-2. This is because of were the ganglion is located on the body that the specific strain of the virus prefers. The ganglion that HSV 1 prefers in under the ear and the ganglion for HSV 2 in at the base of the spine. This is why you usually have strain 1 on the lips and strain 2 on the genitals. Therefore, it is more difficult to get strain 1 genitally, but possible. Also, you can spread the virus when you do not have an outbreak "coldsore".
