Question I have had sex with one person over the last year. Two days after the last time we had sex I started getting symptoms of a std. It turns out she tested positive for chlamydia. She insists that she has not had sex with anybody but me in the last year. Is it possible that the first couple of dozen times we had sex I didnt contract it, but this last time I did?
Answer Chris,
Sometimes it can take a while for symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection to show up. In fact, most people don't even have any symptoms at all! But, I can't say that I've heard of it taking almost a year for chlamydia to show symptoms, however. That doesn't necessarily mean she's been sleeping with anyone else.
During the first "couple of dozen times" you had sex, did you use protection? If you were always protected in the past, and then went unprotected the last few times, or even the last one time, it is possible that you just didn't catch it right away. Or if the sex has always been unprotected, it is also possible that the first times you had sex you just lucked out and managed to "dodge the bullet" so to speak.
In any case, don't point any fingers. Just get treated right away so you don't keep passing it back and forth.
