Sexually Transmitted Diseases/used condom

Question
My 3 year old daughter picked up a condom on the train and was waving it around and playing with it. I dont know if she put it in her mouth or not. I wasn't able to wash her properly for an hour. Is there a chance that she could contract any std such as chlamydia or herpes. I don't know what to do about it.
Karen

Answer
Karen,
The chances of her contracting something from this is small. Maybe it was not used and if it was, there is a time limit on when anything would be infectious. I would try not to worry about this too much. It is unfortunate and I will pray for your daughter that nothing will happen. You might want to also ask a doctor about this.

Sincerely,
Diane W.
