Sexually Transmitted Diseases - genital pimples?

Expert: Jack Schroder - 1/2/2003

Question
Hello,

Just a few minutes ago I found a collection of what appear to be pimples, numbering about 10 or 12 of various sizes, clustered about an inch above and to the right of the base of my penis.  I was of course very concerned about this, and so I tried "popping" them as if they actually were pimples, hoping that they would be.  A few of them seem to have popped normally, discharging the usual white greasy substance one would expect from a facial pimple.  Others only yielded a clear fluid, or blood, or a combination of the two.  Of course I think I have had pimples like that before as well.

Nevertheless I thought it was weird that they are so close to my genitals, and also that they are in such a tight formation (all of them within an inch or so of each other).

Can you help me identify this?  Is it a disease (and if so, which one), or, is it just pimples?  Should I take it in to have it looked at by my doctor?

Thanks very much!

Answer
You say nothing about your sexual activities, but I guess as you say, you are shy. I think you had better go see a doctor, preferably a dermatologist or perhaps a doctor at your nearby Public Health clinic. I say dermatologist or Public Health because many private doctors are not well trained in venereal diseases. You may have a venereal disease, but I am not at all sure about this. The problem worries you, and it worries me, even if I can not answer your question. So, see a doctor.
