Question I go to college in the US, and am seriously considering studying abroad in Merida. I was wondering how easy it is to get to Margarita Island from Merida? In addition, are there cheap places to stay on Margarita Island. And, are there other beaches closer to Merida.

Margarita is opposite to Merida, not easy to get there..long drive and ferry boat too.
By plane, you have to fly Merida to Caracas (Maiquetia airport) and form Caracas to Margarita.
Few cheap places to stay in Margarita island.
Morrocoy in Tucacas, Falcon state is a good option, much closer to Merida by car and has affordable posadas
