I am an American citizen and looking into purchasing an undeveloped lot outside of Caracas. I was wondering what requirements I would need to go through (resident visa, application, etc) to obtain this property in my name and build a house on it.

Check with the US Embassy in Caracas (Consular Services) if an American Citizen with a Tourist card can buy a property in Caracas.
Also Venancham, the Venezuelan American Chamber of Commerce can give you a more detailed and legal advise
