Question
Hi,
-I wouldn't be surprised if you found this not within your area of expertise, but you seemed to have the broadest background of any expert here, so thought I'd see what you had to say.
-In our small company of about $5million in sales, we brainstorm from time to time.  With all our suppliers, and subsequently ourselves, raising prices to partially deal with increased cost of freight etc., I started wondering about this.
-For both incoming and outgoing freight, we spend about $250,000/year on the Averitt, FedEX Freight, Old Dominion etc.  Now within that universe, we chart out each freightline's charges to/from whatever destination and negotiate, so we are at close to best price there.  I was just thinking:  what if we hired or leased a driver and his rig (or some permutation) exclusively for running our freight.  Any idea of the feasibility of this?  I realize this is not enough info to make a studied opinion, but you may have some thoughts on the subject.

Answer
a; thanks for the compliment.
b; I have neighbors who own several tractors and trailers, so I DO have the knowledge you seek on this specific topic.
GET a lease and a driver!  WHEN he/she is not driving your
goods, they can be driving other things and helping to
pay for your overhead and in time, you would earn so much
money that this OTR would earn perhaps more than your regular biz!

c; what does the parent company do?  where?
do u have a biz plan?

u can reach me at kasamba,
