Question ear Dr. Trosst,
Thank you for you time.I wrote to you about four weeks ago when my vertigo started and the ringing in my ear.( right ear)You thought it to be labyrinithis.. My doctor here in Kauai call it's nuero something... anyways, it has now been 6 weeks of server tininitisof thr ear, vertigo in the morning or when I move my haed to fast. The fatigue that it then brings on is another thing I'm just working through. Question: I am 33yrs and have three children , I stay with them now but am hopeful to get work soon. With the loss of hearing and the ringing so loud how do people get through this part? Does the ringing at any time stop and then you have just hearing loss and bouts of vertigo?meds I've been taking; are prednison 40mg daily on two weeks off a week then on again for a week off two weeks now on again for one week, acyclovir 400mg 2x4 daily for a week then 400mg 2x5 for two weeks off two weeks and now on 400mg . 1x4 daily for a 10days. meclizine 25mg for vertgo took for two weeks then stoped took one on 3/23/04 vertigo bad today because of the wind. Why is the weather the one thing that really triggers how I do that day? Hope these are questions you understand . Thank you again

Answer Dear Dawn:
Usually the condition gets better. I am not certain whether you have labyrinthitis or early Meniere's disease but generally the prognosis is that symptoms gradually get better. People are often sensitive to quick movements or barometric pressure changes as the ear balance system is affected by either condition.
I think your treatment is appropriate and hope you start to get better soon.
