Question sir can ENG test find reason of vertigo surely?
if this test normal ,also along with all tests normal,is there any chance of ENT associated giddiness ?any new testing machine ?
Answer Dear Hako:
The tests for dizziness including ENG, rotary chair and posturography are INSENSITIVE and miss many patients with significant inner causes for vertigo. They are great when they are positive but many many many patients have major dizziness, such as for example postional vertigo, the MOST common cause of vertigo and have completely normal ENT tests.
There are no new tests that are really reliable.
As always and forever and ever the best path to a diagnosis is an accurate history by a skilled physician. Tests are rarely diagnostic even though expensive. A good physician is worth 20 MRI's even though the compensation is a fraction of what is spent for the test.
