Question
I have been suffering from continuous vertigo for seven weeks-it feels like everything is moving rotationally all the time. I also have a high pitched ringing sound in my left ear at night and have been suffering from headaches and fatigue. I have been sleeping for up to 12 hours a night and still feel tired all the time. I have experieced bouts of vertigo before, about 7-8 times since I was 14 (I am 19 now) but these only lasted 1-2 weeks. I was prescribed stemetil which I had an allergic reaction to, cinnarizine and betahistine dihydrochloride which were both ineffective. I have been referred to an ENT specialist but as I live in the UK it will take 17 weeks to get an appointment. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, Eleanor Brown.

Answer
Dear Eleanor:

You best approach is to see your ENT physician.  You can read more about vertigo on my website at:

www.ivertigo.net

It may be you have Meniere's disease or some positional vertigo also.

You can read about Meniere's at:
http://ivertigo.net/vertigo/verperipheral.html#MENIERES

and about positional vertigo (BPPV) and other common causes of inner ear problems (peripheral vesitbulopathy at:
http://ivertigo.net/vertigo/verdiagnosis.html

If you have exacerbations by position change you may get help from positional exercises.  See description at:
