Question hi there,
done a little research into what make all my parts are to help diagnose my problem,
The problem: I go to change my my settings in the catalyst control settings, i attempt to turn on agp, and nothing.... my computter restarts and agp simply wont turn on, i cannot think of a possible reason for this, my mobo supports agp 8x,
It is worth noting that i have gone into bios to change to agp slot for video, but, when i change the setting it only has 2 options AGP/onboard, or PCI, could this be the problem?
Processor - AMD 3000+ barton core
Video Card - ATI Radeon 9550XL AGP 8x
Mobo - FIC model AU31
RAM - 512 DDR pc 2700
i have no idea what the problem is and its extremely irritating, any help/advice any of you can give would be greatly appreciated, i know this is all now outdated tech by far, but im looking to finally fix the problem ive lived with for over 2 years :/
Thank You
Answer Id this an Emachine unit?
Depending on when the motherboard was made it may have advertized AGP 8x but that doesn't mean it does it right away. Most motherboards require a BIOS update to enable all the features they say they do.
If it is an Emachines they should have the bios update on their support page.
Otherwise you'll have to check FIC http://www.fic.com.tw/
I have noticed on their forums that this motherboard model is also refered to as a model K7m-NF18G.
