Question I have a Samsung 226BW monitor that I'm driving with an XFX GeForce 7900GT card. In the past week I've started to get random horizontal lines that appear on the screen. They are not in the same place each time. I've got the latest and greatest drivers installed and am running Vista. Any ideas?
Answer Check the manual for the monitor.
Make sure you are using the proper refresh rate for the monitor - the default for windows is not always correct.
Also the optimal settings are 1680 x 1050.
Lastly this monitor requires a specific driver or windows will not handle the monitor correctly: http://www.samsung.com/me/support/productsupport/download/Model_Select2.aspx?typ...
You'll need to install that.
If the problem persists check the video cable and make sure it is connected correctly. You may also want to try swapping out the cable.
I think the driver will solve the problem. Sounds like the refresh rate and such are just not correct. The driver should fix this.
