Subject: graphics Card Upgrade

Question
Hi, I need to upgrade my graphics card if possible from a NVIDIA FX 5200 to at least a NVIDIA 6600. It doesn't look like the new
card will fit into the slot on the motherboard. Are there adapters for this kind of problem?
I have a Gateway Pent IV 3.00 GHZ computer

Answer
Most likely you have an AGP video card. Newer card are PCI-express. They are not interchangable.
Good news is they make up to 7300 GT in AGP still

7300s

6000series

If you purchased the 6600 you should just return it and get a refund or an AGP card. If you get a refund buy the correct card from newegg, much cheaper than retail stores.

Make sure your computer uses AGP. You can call gateway and they should be able to tell you. If they give you some crap about you must get the card from them they are lying...don't believe them.
