Question Hi Chris,
I recently bought a new graphics card for my pentium 4 2.8Ghz computer. It is called Powercolor X1650 PRO 512MB type. I followed the instructions of how to install the new graphics card - I deleted my old drivers, turned off computer and placed the new graphics card. As i restarted the comptuer making sure everything was connected, the monitor did not work. My monitor is a Fujitsu FA-19W1S-H2A plug 'n' play monitor. Please let me know what's wrong with my graphics card and how i can fix it.
My current specs for my computer are 1.5GB of ram, P4 2.8GHz, 80Gig Hard drive, LCD monitor
Thanks
Victar
Answer Most likely it is just not being seen by the bios. If you were using onboard video before (you didn't have an actual graphics card) you need to disable it in bios and windows.
First hook up to the onboard video and remove the new card. boot to windows. Go to control panel -system, hardware - device manager
expand the display adapters. Right click the onboard video and choose disable and shut down.
When the computer boot press the correct F key (shoudl be displayed at the boot screen) sometimes it is del key also. You want to enter setup or bios.
In there you'll need to find the setting for the onboard video. This should be set to auto or disabled. Then you want to find the settings for the video slot (AGP most likely in your case) and make sure it is enabled.
I can't tell you exactly where they are because all bios are different.
Save the bios and exit - usually last screen.
Insert the new card - hook up the monitor and boot to windows.
If this is not your case let me know.
