Question QUESTION: I have a pc running vista home premium with a Radeaon X800 GTO video card. The Radeon video card is connected to an old Mitsubishi CRT display (connected via VGA) and a Fujitsu flat panel monitor (connected via DVI). When I boot up I can see the boot screen on my old CRT but not on the flat panel. Once the boot system gets past the initial start up phase and then into vista I can see the display on both monitors and while working under vista I have no problem with the dual monitor set up. My worry is that when my old CRT finally gives up the ghost I will not be able to get into the boot sequence to enter the bios or safe mode for example.
I have tried connecting the monitors one at a time with the same result (the flat panel does not show any of the boot sequence).

ANSWER: If the flat panel is connected as the only monitor, to the VGA port, will it display any of the boot sequence? It might just be the card switches only the VGA port on boot (either due to some configuration hidden away in a control panel somewhere, or due to design), or the LCD simply might not turn on fast enough (especially true if its one of the very first LCDs (circa 1998), it could just be cycling too slow).

thanks for the quick response. the Flat panel is only a couple of years old so cycling was not a problem but as you suggested I connected the video card to the VGA port and it worked. As you say something within the design I suspect. Anyway at least I know I will be able to get to the boot screen should my CRT ever fail.

Answer Ok, yes, it shouldn't be coming on too slow if its newer (I just know some early LCDs (and early CRTs for that matter) sometimes have warm-up cycles that take around a minute, but if its that new, it shouldn't be an issue at all).
