Question
Hello, my name is Jeremy.
I recently got a used Toshiba Satellite L35-S2366 laptop with the model number PSL33U-03W02K that had the operating system changed from Windows vista to Windows XP.
The hard drive is 74.5 GB Toshiba MK8037GSX, with
10 GB used space and 64.5 MB free space,
and an NTFS file system.
The CPU is A genuine Intel CPU T2060 @ 1.60 GHz.
The RAM is 448 MB
According to the device manager, the following devices have no drivers installed.
Audio Device on high definition audio bus
Ethernet controller
Modem device on high definition audio bus
SM bus controller
Video controller (VGA compatibe)
SiS7018 Audio Driver
VIA AC'97 Audio controller (WDM)
I have no further information on any of these hardware items and don't know how to get it.
I Have tried to reinstall the drivers while allowing the hardware update wizard to connect to the windows update website.
I Have also tried uninstaling and reinstalling them via the add hardware wizard, again while allowing connection to the windows update website.
I tried the free versions of Driver detective,
ParetoLogic DriverCure and Driver Robot,
Which all require registration (and a fee) to acually install drivers.
My main question is: are there any Free programs availible that install the proper drivers for these hardware components, or will I have to get a registered version?

Answer
Drivers are always free from the vendor, you simply have to know the hardware you're installing drivers for, I would suggest checking Toshiba's website first, having the model number is the biggest key there, if Toshiba doesn't have drivers available from their page, they will at least have specifications for the installed hardware, which you can then use to go and download the appropriate drivers from the hardware vendor.
