my monitor seems to be fading-the cards are hard to see-would i need to replace the monitor?

Gday Joe,

I would try adjusting the monitor first.  On the leading edge of the monitor's PCB you should find a row of knobs hopefully one is marked contrast/bright try adjusting that first.  You also might also have to make an adjustment the knobs on the flyback transformer (the big black thing on the back of the monitor)  There are 2 knobs one is for focus (make it less blurry) and the other usually is some kind of contrast (Make it less dark).  For this you might need a second pair of eyes for this or a mirror.

If that fails then you have the option of cap kit your monitor (Good TV repairman should be able to do it) or replace with a LCD computer screen with a PCB board.

Hope this helps

I can answer questions on Arcade or Home Console repair or modification.

Repair, rewire, modification, rebuild, restore. (I repair numerous business and private arcade/pinball machines in my area of the state. I partner with a shop that stocks older console based systems and games, I am the one that repairs them back to working order.)

Have been building, customizing and repairing all types of arcade games since 2004. I have been repairing and modifying video games since the late 80's. (Most of my knowledge is self learnt and following others that have trailblazed in the industry.)
