Video Game Repair/1981 Cocktail Type Midway Galaga Game

Hello Octane,

My game has no picture at all? No "glow" at bottom of tube? However, all else works perfect-(sound, credits, actual play ect.)

Can you please suggest tips for me to check?

I had this same problem before, and only played the game maybe 5 or 6 times after it was repaired by a shop which is now closed.

Thank you in advance.

Gday Red,

If it been fixed before I say it probably say it a $0.50 fuse.  Sounds like you have no power going to your monitor.  (I check you invoice from the shop that fixed it for a clue)

I check your fuses in the bottom of the machine, also the monitor may have a fuses on the chassis I check that as well.  If it not glowing then there is no power going to it, so it also might be the transformer, although since the game board is working I probably say that is not it.  Most older Machines have a multi transformer that does power to the monitor as well as the game board.

If the monitor is shot I suggest replacing it with a flat screen computer monitor and a CGA/VGA converter board.  (This will cost you about $89 for the monitor and about $30 for the board)

Hope this helps

I can answer questions on Arcade or Home Console repair or modification.

Repair, rewire, modification, rebuild, restore. (I repair numerous business and private arcade/pinball machines in my area of the state. I partner with a shop that stocks older console based systems and games, I am the one that repairs them back to working order.)

Have been building, customizing and repairing all types of arcade games since 2004. I have been repairing and modifying video games since the late 80's. (Most of my knowledge is self learnt and following others that have trailblazed in the industry.)
