Video Game Repair/printer absent error

I bought a used nudge game. I am not using a printer or tickets. worked fine for bout a month one day when I cleared credits it come up on screen saying "printer absent" I have another just like it so I did a hard reset and set it just like the other. the game will play until I clear the credits then it goes back to "printer absent" until I do another reset

Gday Count,

Since our other Expert, Brian, does not do video poker machines he shot it over to the question pool.  So I give it a shot.

The only Nudge manual I could find is the following.....

Now it talks about a hopper sensor for the paper/tickets.  I know you don't have a printer but maybe there is a sensor out there that that you have to tape closed to fool it.  Since you have 2 like it you can double check a few things, swap the boards and see if the error follows the board or stays in the machine.  I doubt it is in the dip switches, it might be the internal programming if that.  I guess it probably the way something is wired.

Hope this helps.

I can answer questions on Arcade or Home Console repair or modification.

Repair, rewire, modification, rebuild, restore. (I repair numerous business and private arcade/pinball machines in my area of the state. I partner with a shop that stocks older console based systems and games, I am the one that repairs them back to working order.)

Have been building, customizing and repairing all types of arcade games since 2004. I have been repairing and modifying video games since the late 80's. (Most of my knowledge is self learnt and following others that have trailblazed in the industry.)
