Video Game Repair/2005 Golden Tee Trackball Issues

Question
We just bought a Golden Tee 2005 edition and most everything seems to work fine except for the trackball. It seems to work to the right but doesn't want to work when we try to roll left. Any information on how to fix this would be much appreciated. I have it all the way opened up to the trackball and the rollers seem to work fine so I'm thinking it has something to do with the readers, but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Ryan,

This is one of the most common failures on the Golden Tee machines. It's almost 100% certainly the optic that has failed. Short of replacing just the optic, it would be cheaper to simply replace the entire trackball. You should be able to find them very cheaply on EBay.

Hope this helps!
Brian

Expertise

I can answer questions regarding coin-operated arcade game questions down to the logic board. Error codes, erratic operation, dead boards, I can help with them all. I can help with video monitors on a very limited and basic level only.

Experience

I have spent nearly 20 years as an avid arcade collector, and spent nearly 10 of those years as the lead tech for a large arcade operator, doing work for manufacturers and other coin-operated amusement companies around the globe. I maintain a good sized collection of arcade games, as well as a large inventory of spare parts for a wide range of arcade machines.
