Video Game Repair/Golden Tee Fore Complete - power on

Question
Hi Brian,
I had purchased a Golden Tee Fore from a bar owner.  It worked well for a year.  Now, the game will not turn on.  When I flip the on switch in the back, I hear a pop (through the speakers), but nothing happens.  I checked the fuse but it seems fine.  Any ideas on how to get this awesome game up and running again?

Thank you,
Kevin.

Answer
It sounds like your power supply may have died. Open the game and look at the main logic board (the one with the hard drive plugged into it). When you power the game on, do any of the lights on the board come on? Does the power supply come on? Does the fan on it spin? If the answer to any of these questions is no, you'll need to purchase a new power supply. They're not expensive, and usually can be had for under $20. If you have a red board, you can use a computer power supply.

Hope this helps!
Brian

Expertise

I can answer questions regarding coin-operated arcade game questions down to the logic board. Error codes, erratic operation, dead boards, I can help with them all. I can help with video monitors on a very limited and basic level only.

Experience

I have spent nearly 20 years as an avid arcade collector, and spent nearly 10 of those years as the lead tech for a large arcade operator, doing work for manufacturers and other coin-operated amusement companies around the globe. I maintain a good sized collection of arcade games, as well as a large inventory of spare parts for a wide range of arcade machines.
