Video Game Repair/golden tee 2004

Hello Brian. I have a quick question about my Golden Tee 04. It will boot up and you can play a game,, for a while. Then the screen freezes up after a few minutes of play,, and eventually goes dark. Most of the time you can still hear sounds when it happens,, however after a while it'll just make a popping noise every few minutes. I'm an entry level guy at these things,, I have this, an asteroids, and all in one and 2 pinball machines. Guess I will have to start getting educated,, and I figured you're a perfect guy to get me started. Thanks for your time!!

Hi there!

It sounds like you've either got a failing video card or a bad power supply. The first thing that I would do would be, with the power off, unscrew and remove the video card. Clean the edge connector and reinstall. See if this works. Also, if there's a fan on the video card, make sure that it's working.

If that doesnt fix the problem, turn the knob on the power supply about 1/3 of a turn clockwise. Turn the game on and see if this works.

Let me know!

I can answer questions regarding coin-operated arcade game questions down to the logic board. Error codes, erratic operation, dead boards, I can help with them all. I can help with video monitors on a very limited and basic level only.

I have spent nearly 20 years as an avid arcade collector, and spent nearly 10 of those years as the lead tech for a large arcade operator, doing work for manufacturers and other coin-operated amusement companies around the globe. I maintain a good sized collection of arcade games, as well as a large inventory of spare parts for a wide range of arcade machines.
