Question Hello. I have a Golden Tee 98 in a converted Centipede cabinet that has developed a sound problem. It starts and plays fine but as soon as I spin the trackball all sorts of game sounds start playing continuously and never stop. It always happens when I spin the ball and will sometime just start happening if I just let the game sit long enough after turning on. I've run the board test and everything tests okay. I can also spin the ball while in the setup menu and no crazy sounds. Any ideas? Thanks.
It sounds like you've got a problem with the main logic board. There could be an issue with grounding that is causing the trackball to affect the sounds, but without seeing it in person, it is hard to diagnose. If you message me privately, I should be able to come up with a replacement board.
I can answer questions regarding coin-operated arcade game questions down to the logic board. Error codes, erratic operation, dead boards, I can help with them all. I can help with video monitors on a very limited and basic level only.
I have spent nearly 20 years as an avid arcade collector, and spent nearly 10 of those years as the lead tech for a large arcade operator, doing work for manufacturers and other coin-operated amusement companies around the globe. I maintain a good sized collection of arcade games, as well as a large inventory of spare parts for a wide range of arcade machines.
