Video Game Repair/golden tee 98 no sound

QUESTION: I have a golden tee 98 with no sound. Speaker is good. Connections are good. There is 7 volts dc on the speaker line. the sound led flashes. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

ANSWER: It's likely that your sound ROM has gone bad. I've seen this multiple times after either a storm or ESD discharge. Replacing it should take care of the problem- the chip is common to all Golden Tee 97-2K boards.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: What is the location of the sound rom? Do you know where i can find one? Thanks

The sound ROMs are circled in red. The first thing i would do is gently lift them from the socket and the press them back down. If this doesn't fix the problem, let me know. You might be best just purchasing a replacement board from Ebay- they are not expensive at all.

I can answer questions regarding coin-operated arcade game questions down to the logic board. Error codes, erratic operation, dead boards, I can help with them all. I can help with video monitors on a very limited and basic level only.

I have spent nearly 20 years as an avid arcade collector, and spent nearly 10 of those years as the lead tech for a large arcade operator, doing work for manufacturers and other coin-operated amusement companies around the globe. I maintain a good sized collection of arcade games, as well as a large inventory of spare parts for a wide range of arcade machines.
