Video Game Repair/street fighter 2 champ ed

hey bro, today I brought sf 2 arcade the unit is in full working order and boots up to the character sweet as, no problems selecting players one and two, loads first round good but.......
When it starts no characters are seen. all background graphics function fully but only a shadow appears for each fighter, although you can make one move with each player as if they are invisible (but not able to strike each other)but then freeze and when time runs out it says going as if the clock hasn't run out. this is the same in the demo that runs after the start screen. I whould very much appreciate any ideas you may have on the issue, thankyou very much

Hi Kent!

This might actually be an easy fix. Look at the board in your cabinet- it should be a main board with a smaller board connected to it, and then an even smaller board connected to that. You'll need to remove the gold screws that hold all of the boards together and then gently pull the middle board off of the main big board. After you do that, re-connect them, making sure not to bend any of the pins. Power the game back on and see if that fixes the problem! It likely will.

Hope this helps,

I can answer questions regarding coin-operated arcade game questions down to the logic board. Error codes, erratic operation, dead boards, I can help with them all. I can help with video monitors on a very limited and basic level only.

I have spent nearly 20 years as an avid arcade collector, and spent nearly 10 of those years as the lead tech for a large arcade operator, doing work for manufacturers and other coin-operated amusement companies around the globe. I maintain a good sized collection of arcade games, as well as a large inventory of spare parts for a wide range of arcade machines.
