Question
I have a golden tee 2004 that freezes at the same spot every time. When you try and make a course selection. I replaced the hard drive with a compact flash thinking it was a bad hard drive. But no luck. Same problem. Boots up fine. W ok voltage it says. Then freezes after player and course selection. Any idea what would cause this.? Thanks

Answer
It's very likely that you've got a bad video card. Does it play through the attract mode without problems? Even if it does, that doesn't rule out a bad video card. It may be overheating. Replacement cards are inexpensive- it would be worth swapping them and seeing if that fixes the issue.

Hope this helps,
Brian

Expertise

I can answer questions regarding coin-operated arcade game questions down to the logic board. Error codes, erratic operation, dead boards, I can help with them all. I can help with video monitors on a very limited and basic level only.

Experience

I have spent nearly 20 years as an avid arcade collector, and spent nearly 10 of those years as the lead tech for a large arcade operator, doing work for manufacturers and other coin-operated amusement companies around the globe. I maintain a good sized collection of arcade games, as well as a large inventory of spare parts for a wide range of arcade machines.
