Question
Hi, My son's PSP does nothing when turned on. the power light comes on and the only way to shut it off is to remove the battery. I looked for an image or backlight you spoke of in a previous post but see nothing. Also there is no noise. Any advise would be appreciated. --Bryan

Answer
Hi,
Unfortunately this is usually a sign of corrupted or absent firmware, most often due to an interrupted update. Sadly this is very common and you can find quite a bit of info on the Internet about it if you do a search on a "bricked" PSP which is the popular term for it. Some bricked PSP's will turn off by themselves after 20 seconds or so and some stay on indefinitely as your's is doing. There's a very small possibility that something else is causing the problem but chances are it'll need a new motherboard and they're very expensive at around $100 right now. Sony offers an out-of-warranty exchange deal for $90 or so it might be worthwhile giving them a call before sending it off for repair. Thanks, Lynn
