Question
how can i clean my ps2 lens without buying items and damaging my ps2?

Answer
There are a few ways to clean the lens without opening it, but chances are your going to have to invest at least $10 or so.

A can of compressed air can be used to blow out dust inside the drive and fans, which can blow debris off the lens and the other mechanisms inside the PS2, without opening it.

There are also special disks with microbristles that you can buy that are specifically designed to clean laser lenses. These cost around $10 to $15 and can be used more than once.

If your PS2 is having disk read errors after trying these 2 remedies, go to this website-

http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars

This site will show you step by step how to disassemble your PS2 and re-adjust the lens. Relatively easy if you are careful. And if you dont feel comfortable doing this, there are many websites that are dedicated to repairing PS2s, so if all else fails, Google some PS2 repair sites and see which one would be the best for you.
