Question
My son has a PSP2 and he only uses it for games.  all of the sudden when he inserts a game it just makes funny noises and the game won't load and play.

Answer
It sounds like there is a problem with UMD drive. If it is making clanking noises, it's entirely possible that some debris has gotten inside the UMD drive. You can try blowing it out with compressed air. It could be a piece of paper or something.

If it is trying to read the disc but cant, you can also try blowing it out with air. The lens may have become dirty.

Worst case scenario is that the UMD drive will need to be replaced. This service typically costs around $150, so it may not be economical to replace it.

If you can remove the UMD drive, clean the lens with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Be careful not to touch the lens wiht your fingertip!

I hope this helps!
Brian
