Question hi there i wonder if you can help me, i purchased an xbox 360 console in january this year, on saturday last week i recieved the dreaded 'ring of death' error. i have read up on the subject and found that Microsoft have offered an extended repair warrenty on the console. However i would like to know what my rights are on a replacement, i have been back to the retailer (choices UK) who have directed me back to microsoft. Could you tell me if there is anything in the 'sale of goods' act 1979 that gives me the right to a new console. I have read various articles about other retailers offering a 1 year refund/replacement on the consoles with this error no questions asked. Thank you for your time i would be interested to hear from you.

Answer Hi Dan,
As long as the Microsoft seal is intact (the silver sticker located behind the faceplate), then you should qualify for the repair. Contact Microsoft and tell them that your console is giving you the red light error and they should guide you through the procedures and send you a prepaid shipping box to send your console to be repaired, free of charge. Your console isn't even a year old, so as long as the Microsoft Seal is fully intact, then there should be no problems getting it repaired/replaced. Thanks for the question!
