Experience I have lived in Hanoi for 15 years working as a Nurse and in Public Health and now run a small and dynamic travel company with my (Vietnamese)wife.

If you were given three months to see Vietnam on a budget could you give me an idea of the best route around? I want to include all the main places, sites and attractions. Ideas for cheap accomodation and the cheapest way to travel from place to place would be great too!?

If it were up to me I'd buy a second-hand Russian motorbike (Minsk)and use it to tour the country. You can get one for under $400 and sell it again for the same price when you leave. Accom. in the back blocks is usually only 5- 10$.
I did the same (3 months on bike) in 1994/5 and loved it so much that I ended up coming to live here and have for 13 years.
