Question Dear Al
I'm hoping you can answer a question about the best months to visit Vietnam. I have gotten totally contradictory answers and am hoping you can help. I'm thinking about going in April or May and will be covering the whole country, north to south. I know that makes it impossible to find really great weather throughout the trip.
Anything you can say will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dana
Answer Hi Dana,
I apologize for the delayed response. Things got kind of hectic last week. I visited Vietnam in September a couple years ago and traveled from the South to the North. We had absolutely no problems with the weather (i.e. no or little rain, not unreasonably hot) throughout the week-long trip. As for traveling in April or May, you'll be hitting a hotter and more humid time in Vietnam, especially in the South. So it might depend on what you're used to as to how it affects you. I would expect nice, bearable weather in the North (cooler in the highlands) and very hot and humid weather in the South (but not necessarily rainy).
If this is your first visit to Vietnam, you're in for a real treat. We found the people to very friendly and helpful as well as the country itself being breathtakingly beautiful. I hope this helps somewhat. Enjoy your trip!
