Question Having difficulty finding a place for Wisteria.
One spot would be not under but surrounding evergreen trees such as Cedar & fir. The other would be close to the deck, where the afternoon sun would beat down hot. The other side of the deck with morning sun, afternoon shade. Is it possible with trimming to keep Wisteria under control? Do they like dry soil? Could it be kept in a large cement continer?

Answer Hello Jennifer,
Go with the sunnier location if you want your wisteria to bloom well. They like the sun and heat and can take a fair amount of drought once they are established. Wisteria are much to large to be grown in containers so I don't recommend it. Wisteria can be keeped under control by pruning but this is all relative and they can grow to monstrous proportions to begin with, so even a well pruned wisteria will be quite large. Good luck.
