AboutJeff Clark Expertise I can answer most questions on vintage-car history and trivia, but there are three things I can't help with:
1) repair questions
2) "where-can-I-find-the-VIN-on-my-car?" questions
3) what's-my-car-worth questions
I'm not a mechanic, I can't know the location of every VIN plate on every vehicle ever made, and I can't appraise a vehicle I can't see.
Experience I've been a classic-car fanatic my entire life, and have spent most of my free time studying the automotive industry and its history.
Education/Credentials 25 years experience in the automotive industry.
Expert: Jeff Clark Date: 5/8/2008 Subject: 1927 Chevrolet Sport Cabriolet
Question Specific to 1927 Chevrolet Sport Cabriolets and Coupes
Are all Coupes 2 passenger and all Sport Cabriolets 2+2 passenger, due to all Cabriolets having a rumble seat and all Coupes not for that year.
Answer The body terms for pre-war cars are quite similar, but that doesn't mean each manufacturer used them in the exact same way. Coupes were almost always 2-passenger, but some coupes had rumble seats, making them 4-passenger. My level of expertise is not so great that I would know each body style for every car ever made, so you need to find those that specialize in pre-war Chevrolets. Try posting your question on a site like this:
If they can't answer your question there, all you need to do is a Google search for something like "Classic Chevrolet forums," which will bring up others. Good luck.
ON EDIT: I get negative comments because I answered the question honestly? Maybe I should have made up an answer, or do what the other guys do and just refuse to answer the question at all. Lesson well learned...
