About Jeff Clark
Expertise
I can answer most questions on vintage-car history and trivia, but there are three things I can't help with: 1) repair questions 2) "where-can-I-find-the-VIN-on-my-car?" questions 3) what's-my-car-worth questions I'm not a mechanic, I can't know the location of every VIN plate on every vehicle ever made, and I can't appraise a vehicle I can't see.

Experience
I've been a classic-car fanatic my entire life, and have spent most of my free time studying the automotive industry and its history.

Education/Credentials
25 years experience in the automotive industry.

Subject: 1966 Mustang 'GT' option

Question
For 1966 Mustangs, were all 'GT' option cars equipped with V8's, or were there 6 cylinders as well? Thanks in advance, R Follen

Answer
The V8 was standard on the 1965 GT, but I can find no references as to whether or not it was standard on the 66.  There was a "Special Edition" base model for 1966 that celebrated the 1 millionth Mustang built, and it was available only with the 6-cylinder engine.  Many feel Ford did this to push the 6 as the V8 was in somewhat short supply, so it wouldn't surprise me if the V8 might have been dropped from the GT package for '66.  Search the web for something like "64 1/2-66 Ford Mustang forums" and you'll find several places with forums where you can ask this question of the true "hard-core" Mustang experts.  Good luck!
