Question Hi Al,
I have a question regarding a J.Thibouville- Lamy & Cie violin that I was given. Inside on a paper label are the words "J.Thibouville Lamy & Cie, an address for a store in Paris, C. Meisel sole Agent, New York, & the words "Medio Fino". Also included with the violin is a Mother of Pearl inlaid/wood & silver tip bow (no maker's mark that I can see), a Mirecourt rosin block & violin case. I was wondering if there is any value to this violin. It seems to be in good playing condition, other than one of the strings is broken. Also I was wondering if the bridge had been replaced (I think it is the "bridge" the part that the strings cross) as it is a lighter color piece of wood and the word "Joachim" is stamped on it.
I appreciate any information that you are able to provide.
Thanks in advance.
