About Al Dzina
Expertise
I can answer questions about violin and guitar making and restoration. I will not answer questions about playing these instruments, because I am a maker, not a player.

Experience
I was trained in violin making in Germany and have been working at this craft for sixty years.

Question
Hello,
I have acquired what appears to be a dated violin.  I was hoping you could help me estimate how old it is and approximate worth.  Its condition is somewhat unkept but appears to be all original.  Here are some markings from inside

Antonious Stradivarious Cremonensis
Faciebat Anno 1753
Made in Germany
then there is another stamp that I think says Bruno New York

Thanks

Answer
Hi Matt;
The 1753 is the date of the  A. Stradivarius as listed. Due to the fact that the inst. was made in Germany means that the inst. is a copy. The inst. was imported into this country by the Bruno Co. in about the 1950 to 1960 time frame. Without seeing the inst. I can only take a shot in the dark as to it's value, between $300 to $500.
Al;
