About Al Dzina
Expertise
I can answer questions about violin and guitar making and restoration. I will not answer questions about playing these instruments, because I am a maker, not a player.

Experience
I was trained in violin making in Germany and have been working at this craft for sixty years.

Question
Since the bow is made of horse hair, can it get lice, or any other type of bugs if it is not properly cared for?

Answer
Hi Fancy;
I do not know of any lice infestations, but dust mites are very popular. One nice thing is they only work in the dark. If you store your bow out of the case the bugs will not bother the hair. Keep your bow in a well lighted area and the bugs will stay away.
