About Al Dzina
Expertise
I can answer questions about violin and guitar making and restoration. I will not answer questions about playing these instruments, because I am a maker, not a player.

Experience
I was trained in violin making in Germany and have been working at this craft for sixty years.

Question
We recently purchased a violin for my son from his instructor for $1400.  The label inside says Ludovicus Guersan.  We are trying to find a local place to have it appraised and find out its true value.  His instructor says that it is not an original Guersan so I was curious as to how you tell the difference as well.  Thank you!

Answer
Hi Colleen;
Ludovicus (Louis) Guersan, B.1713, D.1781. Worked 1730-1770 in Paris France. Very good maker, beautiful, but lack in tone. Auction from $820 to $17,269. Send me your City & State and I shall attempt to send you to a shop that can help.

Al;
