Violin - Position

Expert: Michael B. - 11/2/2009

Question
Yes or no, does the 1st finger position (on the G String) begin with the note A?

Moving up to the note B (still on the G string) is the 2nd position.

Answer
Hello Larry,

The answer to the first question is "yes".

If you play the B note with the first finger, then you have moved to the 2nd position. Otherwise, if you play it with the second finger, then you are at the 1st. Got it?

Best wishes,
Michael
