About Al Dzina
Expertise
I can answer questions about violin and guitar making and restoration. I will not answer questions about playing these instruments, because I am a maker, not a player.

Experience
I was trained in violin making in Germany and have been working at this craft for sixty years.

Question
Would it be possible to have a real Joseph Kloz violin dating 1730?  I thought he was born later than that.  I have a relative with one tucked away who doesn't have any idea of the value.  I believe this to be an original.  The strings and bridge have been replaced, but otherwise, is in great shape.  Am I correct in estimating this to be worth a couple thousand American dollars?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Trudy;
There are only five Joseph Kloz members in the very large Kloz family. As you have already found out there is a problem with the 1730 date. None of the the five fit the date of 1730. Send me your City & State and I shall try to send you to someone that can help you.
Al;
