Question I have a violin that looks extremely old and battered but still plays nicely. On the inside there is a label that is made like:
Jacobus Hornsteiner
hand-mode Reproduction
Egidius Klotz
Germany
I want to know more about Egidius and whether if this is a fake. I googled it and it only had a few pages on him. Can you tell me more about this person and violin?

The label should be read as, Jacobus Hornsteiner having created a hand-made reproduction of a Egidious Klotz.
J. Hornsteiner B.? D.? Worked 1927-1930 his instruments have sold at auction for $1630. E. Klotz B.1625, D.? Worked
1655-1727. If it was a real Klotz auction price would be
$5410+. I hope this helps.
