Question Buenos dias, soy de uruguay, America del Sur y mi consulta es la siguiente: Tengo un violin que reza en su interior Joseph Guarnerius, anno 17 (el resto del año no se ve) iniciales JHS o IHS, Cremonde o algo similar y en su exterior en una chapita dorada en su parte inferior trasera dice Germani y un numero 728940, en un estado relativamente bien de conservacion pero con detalles para restaurar. Mi consulta es la siguiente, como puedo hacer para autentificar el mismo o para saber si es genuino o una copia y uhn valor estimativo de un minimo que se puede vender en dolares si es genuino y si no lo es si igual tiene algun valor. Si puede responderme o darme una orientacion muy agradecido ya que en este Pais no encuentro a ningun experto en el tema. Saludos y esperando su respuesta, me despido cordialmente. Sorry it took me so long to answer your question. I had to find someone to translate from Spanish to English. With the country name of Germany on a plaque on the violin it indicates that it may be a copy. It could still have some value depending on the maker and tone quality. I can not give any price information without seeing and hearing the violin. Send me a list of Cities in surrounding Country, I shall try to find someone that maybe can help you price the instrument.
